After a gap of two years, Irish National Opera’s first full scale live production – Fidelio by Beethoven in a new production at the Gaiety Theatre Dublin

Responding to a moment of hope and optimism in late 2021. Beethoven’s triumphant opera in which love and freedom win out over tyranny and oppression. An opera about actually getting out of jail at a moment when the country was moving out of the worst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

A new production directed by Annabelle Comyn and designed by Francis O’Connor with a stellar cast of Irish artists Sinéad Campbell Wallace, Dean Power, Kelli-Ann Masterson alongside Irish-American baritone Brian Mulligan, UK tenor Robert Murray and Australian bass Daniel Sumegi.

A full scale production involving the Irish National Opera Chorus and Orchestra. Sung in German with dialogue in English in a newly commissioned version by Tom Swift
